[x]-Rx werd in 2006 opgericht door de Duitse producer Pascal Beniesch. Het werd al snel als een van de topacts in de industrial music techno scene beschouwd en tekende bij Label Dark Dimensions/ProNoize. In 2012 kwam het vierde album uit, Activate The Machinez. Muzikaal gezien is [x]-Rx zichzelf trouw gebleven, maar na op het derde album voor het eerst vocalen te hebben gebruikt heeft de band deze stijl op het nieuwe album voortgezet zonder het herkenbare geluid van [x]-Rx te veranderen.
